What’s In A Name?

The word came out about my book on Monday. Lots of amazed and positive reaction to it. By Friday a few people had read it and left great reviews for it on the Facebook group. Now I need those reviews on the Amazon Website to boost the book’s rankings. The highest I saw it was number 96 in the weight loss category and in the top 3000 of all books. That is a good start.

Phillip was somewhat disappointed with his pseudonym and asked to be changed to 'Pablo De Petit-Oeuf'. I must say that it is indeed a much better name for him, but it is too late to change anything now. His request reminded me of this scene from ‘The Princess Bride’ movie. I don’t know why.

The greater concern was for the name Mandy-Lace. Some people said it sounded a bit racey and could have been in the ’50 shades’ books written by E. L .James. I am an innocent soul. This never occurred to me, I think it is a nice name.

There was a sense of curious desperation by many people to find out the contents of the book. Many members only found out about it at group today because they are not on the Facebook group. When I told everyone that only 3 copies were left on the table until I receive my bulk order next week, Fern and Davina made a scramble to get the last copies. Very unladylike, but most entertaining.

I presented Mandy-Lace with her personal copy of ‘The World Of Slimming’ in which I wrote a dedication and signature. I also signed all the other books that people brought in. There was an element of shyness in many of the requests for a signature which I understand. But they don’t know that I have done this all before for my ‘Guilty Until Proven Innocent’ book.

Sophie now does her shopping online to avoid me or anyone else checking her shopping basket (Week Thirteen). My feelings and memory about the Stripper were confirmed by Martina and Nigella. (Week Nine).

The Singing Swede

Over the last few weeks Mandy-Lace has told us of the benefits of cooking a whole swede in the microwave. This avoids having to peel and chop up the swede. Apparently, it is called a singing swede because it makes a kind of whistle when you cook it. I was expecting songs by the Swedish band ABBA!

While all this was happening, I had managed to lose 3 pounds this week leaving me half a pound away from my 5 stones award. I’ve got to do this for next week. ‘Please body, behave yourself and make it happen.’

This website is all about my Slimming World diet. I started the diet in February 2016. I kept a detailed diary of what happened in my first year. This has now been published as a book called 'The World Of Slimming'
